If you find yourself in a critical situation, the SLK’s intelligent electronic systems will come to your assistance. If potentially dangerous oversteering/understeering is detected, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) can trigger systematic braking at one or more wheels in order to help the driver to stabilise the vehicle. If necessary, the engine output is also adapted accordingly. Based on the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed, Brake Assist (BAS) can identify an emergency braking manoeuvre and apply maximum braking force.

The SLK is available as an option with bi-xenon headlamps equipped with headlamp cleaning system, dynamic headlamp range adjustment and cornering light function. The cornering light function integral to the fog lamps is also automatically activated on the appropriate side at a speed of up to 40 km/h when turning or when driving around narrow corners, providing better illumination of the road.
